S.E.S.A.W. is a registered charity No. 1124029, devoted to the rescue, care and rehoming of any needy animal, wild or domestic. Those who cannot be rehomed are either fostered or cared for at the sanctuary. Grinshill Animal Rescue Centre Grinshill, Shrewsbury
We are a small, family run rescue centre situated in the picturesque village of Grinshill - 8 miles north of Shrewsbury (off the A49 Whitchurch road). Our house and kennels nestle into the base of Grinshill hill and we are surrounded by woods and fields - haven for cats and dogs alike. We started rescuing approximately 35 years ago, taking in stray, abused animals and generally helping people when they could no longer look after their animals for one reason or another. No matter how much space is made there is never enough room - we always have waiting lists for dogs & cats to be re-homed. Our aim is to rehabilitate and re-home all animals to suitable, caring homes.

All homes are checked before and after re-homing. All dogs and cats are vet checked, vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. As we are only small our animals all have individual love and attention and we never put a healthy animal down. We also offer sanctuary to those dogs and cats with severe trust issues, giving them a secure home where they can feel safe, and more importantly loved. We are limited to what we can do by the strength of our resources, both financial and human. We are short in both areas and are appealing for help. We need more people to help raise funds and carry out other voluntary tasks, such as 'dog walking', if you can spare a little of your time then your help would be most welcome.

Rescue Remedies has been operating for 15 years with no paid staff, run by volunteers from all walks of life. We are internet based and can only accept applications/ dog enquiries via our online Homing Questionnaire which gives us the basis to discuss appropriate dogs. We do have general e-mail address enquiries@rescueremedies.co.uk for other than homing applications. Each dog has its own thread on our forum our forum here.

Dogs in Need Chobham, Surrey
Dogs in Need is a registered charity which re-homes dogs no longer required by their present owners. Operating largely in the Southern Counties, we seek to place unwanted dogs in suitable new homes, currently homing an average of 3 to 4 dogs per week. Dogs come to us in two ways. Their present owners choose to contact us because they no longer wish to keep their dog, typical causes being illness, emigration, marriage break-up, the dog's behavioural problems (often because the owners work and leave the dog alone), allergies and even the imminent arrival of a baby. We also take dogs from Pounds in areas with major stray problems, particularly Eire. Dogs needing homes.

Epsom Canine Rescue Reigate, Surrey
Epsom Canine Rescue was formed in 1995 to specialise in unwanted and subsequently neglected dogs within the local vicinity, although recently we have started to assist in helping rehome the Welsh pound dogs whose plight is dire. Our principle role is the rescue and re-homing of unwanted and stray canines, undertaking veterinary treatment if necessary and neutering where possible prior to sourcing a suitable new home. Any animals in distress that we are unable to deal with directly due to our limited size and resources are referred immediately to other specialist organisations. All potential new homes are checked thoroughly before the dog is released into their care and subsequent follow-up calls are made to ensure that the animal settles and to eliminate any problems that may arise. We encourage the use of experienced foster homes during the re-homing process especially with either very young or very old charges, and try to use boarding kennels as a last resort. All our activities are carried out on a purely voluntary basis and financed soley by self generated funds and your contributions, monetary or otherwise. Our Dogs are homed as family pets, most having had a bad start in life and we do not place any dogs in a home where it would be living outside or left for long periods of time. Due to limited resources we are only able to rehome our Dogs within a 20 mile radius of Reigate. We never destroy a healthy dog, so please help us to give them a second chance.

Croydon Animal Samaritans Croydon area, Surrey
Croydon Animal Samaritans have been helping and rescuing animals since 1974. We have many volunteers all working hard to rescue, foster and rehome all animals taken into our care. Contrary to what our name suggests we cover a wide area from Lewisham to Crawley, Dorking to Oxted. We always have many animals that are desperately in need of loving homes, most of which you can find on our website. If you are not able to offer a home, you can still help by sponsoring any of the cats and dogs or feral cats who we are unable to home but who still need our care. Another important part of Croydon Animal Samaritans is the fundraising side of the charity and we hold Christmas and Easter Fairs as well as an Open Day every Summer. We also regularly hold jumble sales to raise the much needed cash to treat our many animals before they are rehomed. We rely totally on donations and fund raising to support the work we do. If you are interested in offering a home to any of our animals or maybe you would like to help with one of our fundraising events by participating or donating goods then please contact us. Animal Mission Tadworth, Surrey
Since 1986 Animal Mission has taken dogs, cats, puppies and kittens from familes whose changing circumstances cause them to part with a much loved pet. These pets are cared for in a rural, family environment, until suitable permanent homes are found. No accepted animal is destroyed. Although we accept 'homeable pets' from any area, prospective pet owners must be within a reasonable checking distance, in the Home Counties. The Sussex Pet Rescue Charitable Trust Storrington, West Sussex
We are a small registered local charity working in Sussex. Our aim is to relieve the suffering of sick and abandoned animals and to re-home companion animals. Our work mainly involves dogs and, although we cannot provide directly for cats, we work closely with several local cat charities. We keep a list of animals waiting for new homes. Some may be in foster homes and some may be waiting in their existing homes until foster spaces become available. Through meeting the animals and prospective new owners we try to 'make a match' that will last the animal's lifetime. Sussex Pet Rescue is run by unpaid volunteers. We are a network of helpers who do a variety of tasks from transporting dogs to vets, answering telephone enquiries, visiting prospective new owners and homes, following up dogs in their new homes, helping with fundraising and publicity, and caring for dogs whilst they are awaiting new homes. Our helpers are not paid although we cover their expenses. We do NOT receive any grants from statutory bodies but totally rely on donations from the public and organisations that raise money on our behalf. If you could help with fund raising, please contact us. We are also pleased to receive any dog/cat food donations.

Pawprints Dog Rescue Stretton On Dunsmore, Rugby, Warwickshire
Stray dogs taken to the local council pound have just seven days to be reunited with their families before they become the legal property of the local authority, and can be either rehomed or put to sleep. Due partly to the recession, local authority pounds throughout the UK are full to bursting, leaving no space for the dog on its eighth day when the newest stray comes in. More dogs than ever are being euthanised, many simply because there is nowhere for them to go and their owners have not come forward or been found (a good reason why you should microchip your pets and keep those details up to date). This is why rescues like Pawprints have been founded. We want to save as many of these dogs as possible and find them loving, forever homes. Since Pawprints started, we have saved hundreds of dogs that would otherwise have been put to sleep. All of our dogs rescued from the pound undergo an assessment before being rehomed. All Pawprints dogs are fully vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and neutered (providing age allows). Without the support from our donations we would not be able to continue our rescue work, you have helped save hundreds of dogs to date.

Wythall Animal Sanctuary, Birmingham Kings Norton, Birmingham
Wythall Animal Sanctuary was founded by Mr and Mrs E. Davies in 1968, whose aim was to save and find homes for as many unwanted pets as possible. Many thousands have been found new homes during the last 43 years. Many of these animals may otherwise have been destroyed.

We have a non-destruction policy and we are the last hope for these animals. As our name signifies we give them Sanctuary. We pick up all the bills, including Vetrinary bills, for our residents both long term and animals for rehoming. It costs £4,000 a week to keep the Sanctuary running and we rely entirely on donations, fundraising and Wills to continue our work. Other ways you can help are by Sponsoring an Animal, joining our 100 Club or by becoming a 'Friend' of Wythall Animal Sanctuary. We take in, when possible, animals for rehoming and some of these animals will not be fit for rehoming and will live the rest of their lives with us.

Birmingham Dogs Home West Midlands
We are a registered charity and for over 100 years it has been our mission to rescue, reunite and rehome stray, neglected and unwanted dogs from all over the West Midlands area. This vital work is only possible through the very generous support of the local community. This fantastic help has allowed us to improve our facilities and therefore our care for all these unfortunate dogs. Both our locations receive stray dogs Monday to Saturday, from local authority dog wardens and police stations. When capacity allows, we also try to help those people who are anxious to find a new home for their much loved pet, because they can simply no longer cope with a problem caused by a change of circumstances. We hope that by offering this service we can prevent dogs being turned out onto the street by people in desperate situations. When all dogs arrive, they are aged, sexed and scanned for a micro-chip, then given a first part vaccination. All stray dogs by law have to remain with us for 7 full days before we can rehome them. This allows time for owners to claim their lost pets.

Dog Watch UK, West Midlands
Dog Watch UK is a dog rescue operating across the West Midlands. We are a small rescue who registered as a charity (Registered Charity no 1118841) in 2006. We depend entirely on voluntary donations, subscriptions and fundraising. We have a small team of around 30 excellent compassionate volunteers (more always welcome!), who get involved in everything from transporting dogs across the country, to fostering in their own homes, to vet runs, home checks and helping at fundraising events. We do not have our own centre, we use two excellent private boarding kennels and we have many foster homes where our dogs are kept safe until we can find permanent homes or other sanctuary’s for them to go to. All Dog Watch UK dogs are fully vaccinated, or they could still be undergoing their initial vaccination program. They will have been flea treated and wormed. All bull breeds, and females will be spayed or neutered. If you adopt a dog we ask for a donation to help offset our costs. You will find individual profiles of almost all our dogs available for adoption at meet our dogs. There are photos, histories and character assessments. When you have found a dog that you feel would suit your family and lifestyle then tell us by completing an adoption enquiry form.

Dogs featured on our website are predominately stray and abandoned dogs, let go by their owners for whatever reason. Young, old, weak, strong, we see them all. They have one thing in common, they all deserve a second chance of a happy home, a warm bed, enough food and responsible owners who will cherish them for the rest of their lives.

Selby Stray Dog Rescue

Selby District Council always have a selection of dogs available for adoption. Dogs that have been rescued by the Selby Dog Warden, and not been claimed by their owners are offered for re-homing.

All dogs are microchipped and neutered by the Council.

Prospective owners are charged a nominal amount by the kennels to adopt the dogs whatever the breed, age or sex of the dog. The Selby Dog Warden service is one of the better ones, they do not put healthy dogs to sleep and the dogs are well looked after.

If you would like to offer a home to an unwanted dog please phone 01757 705101 or see the Selby District Council Lost and Hound Facebook page

Thornberry Animal Sanctuary rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes hundereds of dogs every year. They have a non-destruction policy which makes them a popular choice with people who feel they can no longer cope with their dog or who circumstances have changed. They receive many calls per day demanding that they to take a dog and if not the dog will either be dumped or destroyed. They are desperate to find permanent, loving homes for the dogs in their care and by doing so they can then try to help as many dogs that they can.
